How the review process works

Instructions for reviewers

  1. Log in to the website and pick an item from the review list (left column).
  2. Retract the chapter.
  3. Tell the list which chapter you took.

How to review

  • Save the file using the naming conventions.
  • Turn on Record changes (Edit > Changes > Record).
  • To leave a comment, use Insert > Comment.
  • For a summary of what to look for in a review, see this page.
  • Follow the Style Guide and keep Writing OOo Guides in mind.
  • Add your name to the Authors section of the chapter's copyright page.

How to hand in your review

  1. Upload the file to the Feedback folder for the appropriate guide.
Do not change the state of this file or the original file at this point.
  2. Send an email to the list. Put the chapter's name in the subject line.

Instructions for writers

You've written a chapter, and would like someone to review it.

  1. Make sure the file name follows the naming conventions.
  2. Submit the document.
  3. Send an email to the list.

When someone reviews your chapter, you should see an email on the list with a subject including the name of the chapter

You will find the reviewed document in the appropriate Feedback folder.

Go through the chapter accepting or rejecting the reviewer's changes and making any revisions necessary in response to comments. Feel free to ask questions if you don't understand a comment or change or think it may be incorrect.

When you have completed revising the chapter, save it with a new filename (according to the naming conventions) and upload it to the Drafts folder for the relevant book. Then submit it for review again and send a note to the list, or (if you think it is ready to be published) send a note to the list with "Ping: Editor" in the subject line.
